crazy, the $880 price tag is too.

What's it cost for the average person to run it?

dude...you've got alot of work ahead of you. no matter what standpoint your looking at it.

The Rubicon Trail is in California. There might be some trail called the Rubicon in Utah. Utah has Moab, maybe you got confused.

how many desert runners or rally-like trucks do you see with SFA?

For the OP:
Jeep calls their wrangler with dana 66's, front and rear lockers, true 4wd, and 33" tires with meaty tread the Rubicon for a reason.

Even still, I'd imagine if someone were going to run a rubicon wrangler on the rubicon trail they'd like some bigger tires and a winch.

Ever heard of Jeep Speed? yea solid axles, and I have seen a few rangers with solid axles, what about the KORE team, long travel dodge 2500s? solid axles. but yes, your kinda right.. IFS is the way to go in the desert.

you cant compare apples to oranges.. Desert racing and crawlin the rub are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

and....Its a "D44" its a bastard D44, kinda like the TTB crap.. its D44 R&P then D30 hybrid shafts and outers.. so its not terribly stronger, its not as strong as the D44 I have.

he said D66's
But they do sell D60s for an ungodly amount of money that just... bolt right up

For some of you who haven't even been there and like to flame a guy:

Corey, to answer your question, your truck is not a good platform to do the rubicon. I lived in NV and have gone to the "Con" multipule times and seen some trucks that have the best offroad parts and setup-ups that money can buy, break and not make it through.

I would say AT LEAST

1. Fourwheel drive
2. 33in tire (and that's REALLY pushing it) 35's should be mandatory
3. REAR locker
4. WINCH, or winch's on vehicles in the group
5. Front and REAR extraction points on your truck

I've seen trucks/jeeps with just the above listed make it through the con, but had a REALLY hard time. Not only that, but if you think you can go through the "CON" and not have body damage your kidding yourself. I would suggest if you value your truck's body panels that you leave your ranger at home. Just some advice.

To everyone else...IFS can make it through the con....

Your best bet would to get a trail truck and save wear on your truck.

Only the rubicons have front D44s, stock ones have 30s or 35s

Wranglers do not have D44's, they have D 35's in the rear, D30's in the front. The only wrangler with a D44 is a Rubicon and even that isn't a full fleged D44
