unexected encounter with an explorer

so i was driving to work this morning about 615am, i'm going a pretty good clip, i remember seeing a white ford explorer in the rear view window coming screaming up behind me, figured he wanted to pass, so i moved into the middle lane, let off the gas a little, he didn't pass... stayed in the left lane, speed matching me, think this is a little odd, and sure i know what this is, i look down at my spedo, and it reads 140km/h (about 88mph) speed limit is 100 (63ish) and then the red and blue turn on...

i pull over, to the right, and up onto the grass, as the shoulder is small, and i wait, shut the truck off and think to myself, this isn't good, i'm getting a very large ticket... passenger gets out, walks up to my passenger window, i roll it down, he asks me "you in a little bit of a rush?" i notice that his uniform is a little different than the rest of the police in this area (they are dark blue, almost black, red stripe on leg, black shoulder crest with red stitching, seen here http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3050/...8d06569cd2.jpg or here http://images.ctv.ca/archives/CTVNew...ice_080529.jpg ) his is all dark bluish green, not as dark, including his crest, which is still readable, but blacked out, almost like someone took a sharpie to it... looks like this http://www.calgary911truth.org/my_we...on3_080813.jpg this is a tac member... i reply to him, "yeah, a little" he says "we were following a guy for a while, but the speed you blew past us, we couldn't ignore it..." i reply "sorry sir" he then says "you need to slow down on these roads" and proceeds back to his truck... he sits for maybe 10 seconds, and the red and blues on the front of the truck turn off, the rears stay on, he sits there for about a minute or 2, what feels like an hour, and he takes off, pulling around me and disappears

do i have horseshoes up my *** or what?

If you asked for id he would probably have given you a ticket. Now, if he was giving you a ticket definitely should ask for id. Anyone can get an official looking uniform and badges made up. Couple red and blues for the dash or grill and bam! We take cash.

You should have gotten the plate number called it in. Sounds like someone was impersonating a police officer to me...

i hear what you all are saying, but the guy who pulled me over looked like a cop, his uniform was perfect (i work with the police) and honestly, the tac team has better things to do than to write speeding tickets to someone who is being polite and apologetic to them. i won't go into detail, the only other saving grace i think i had, was i was wearing my uniform...

and yes tac, is similar to SWAT, but our swat team, we call ERT (emergency response team) and there is TAC in addition to that, they are technically different teams and there is both for the local police i do believe... i'm not too sure what the difference is, i think ERT is like the swat, storm the doors crash the windows take people down hard, and tac is the sneak around, sniper almost like a mercinary, i would think the 2 teams are a lot of the same guys

White undercover explorers? I wouldn't doubt it but that's still weird that they took off without saying something to you first...

i dunno... sounds to me like you were getting played with... did you know this person?? i have a friend that drives a grand marquis 4 door, white with black rims chrome center caps, and the siren... but he's not a cop.. he used to be security in toronto. all his car needs is the lights...just for fun he sits on the side of the road and everyone near him slows down because they think he is a cop... haha its funny!!

Lol all you guys should really stop saying it wasn't a cop. the OP was there and said for sure it was a cop, therefore guess what, he's right.

By the way, In Alaska some of our cop force is explorers, they're great in the winter.

They just don't have time to write tickets...it's not the little fish they are after. There are motormen and uniform officers to write speeding tickets. It's kinda like a plastic surgeon putting a bandaid on someone...

Down here they use everything from mustangs to corvettes and rangers/explorers/f150's...just about everything...
