Slowly driving through a ditch is not stupid...

On the other hand, ramping off a ditch IS stupid...

The whole idea of safe drivng is to drive between the ditches and NOT go into them.

Actually that entire road was littered with mud and soft spots. That whole area was under water for 6 months after Florida got rapped by hurricanes in 2004 and was kept blocked off for another 5 or so until we tore down the barriers (the road lined my buddy's parent's property so we were allowed to do so) We were going exploring. Similar to Lewis and Clark, only small scale with modern technology making us the ones with superior intellect. You wouldn't call Lewis and Clark stupid, now would you?

Funny story about that road. Some trucker used it as a cut through and thought "hey, we just got hit by 4 hurricanes and there is flooding all over the county. Let me use this back road through the swamp like i normally do to save 10min." Well, he got his truck stuck in the mud in 6' of water. Took them a week to get it out.
