What is the Purpose of the Air Vent in the Door?
Howdy Folks, I am in the process of Dynamatting the doors of my new Ranger. I have cut a piece of plexiglass and installed over the access panel, as shown in the pic below. I am ready to apply Dynamat to the outside of the door now, but I wonder if I can cover up that air vent?
The vent is easily removed and I could put plexiglass over it too and cover it with Dynamat. But I don't want to cover it up if it has a needed function.
Does anyone know what this vent does and if I should cover it or not?
Thanks!
I saw Korey's How-to on sound dampening and it was left uncovered, but no explanation was given. :)

Yes, I had not thought about it before, but the flap is on the internal side of the door and can open only outwards. So, yes! As the door is closed, the flap must open and that is probably the only time it moves. Thanks for your help.

Yes, thanks morris. I now have several good reasons now not to seal the vent. Yeah, every time the door is opened and shut, the inside gets fresh air.
Probably void my warranty to cover the thing too! Eeek!
