Everyone always mentions Milemarkers failing... Out of all the people here
who has had one fail on them? I'm not talking about your buddys.. or your wheeling club
who here has Personally had a MM fail on them?

The army in fact takes off the warn's and replaces them with MM hydro winches.

OK I do know that Tom (tbarcya) had his fail on him when the perm. magnet
fragmented... the one that was mentioned earlier is series wound though.

You're asking for personal experience. Nobody but a guy who tests winches for a living has that kind of experience. Search a forum, you'll find a lot more MM failure than Warn failure. Any forum. Ask people, MM didnt' get a reputation for no reason.

And yah, superwinch has been around a long time. The article gave me the idea that they made some improvements on their winch design.

superwinch is a nice winch, but price was a factor in this case.
the one i really wanted was the warn xd9000i

but i couldnt see myself spending $1,000 on a winch that will only get used a couple times a year. ill just have to wait and see how this one works. for the type of wheeling i do, im not worried about burning it up to soon.

here is some progress on my front receiver.

i wanted one on the bottom, but the guy didnt do it. there isnt really room at the top for one. I told him its for a winch, he said that this will not break...so im going to trust him.

would a normal battery be fine with the winch? when i run it, all other power will be turned off, but should i look into getting a better, high performance battery?

I like my 12000# MileMarker.

Has been used quite a bit, now, and no problems at all.
