Tow Straps?

I know there's a sticky above about tow straps but it's hard for me to follow. What does everyone use for tow straps? I have front tow hooks on my truck, and I'd really like some tow straps in case I have to pull some of my buddy's out of snow, or mud. What would be the best to use? I know about the straps with hooks and how they are projectiles if they break, so I want to stay away from that.

Thanks guys :)

I use a 3x30' Procomp strap. Whatever you get, make sure it's rated for at least 3 times the vehicle weight, and has loops on each end, rather than hooks. imo...hooks are extremely unsafe. On your looped end strap, get a couple of 3/4" shackles so you can actually use your new strap.

Recovery straps are for pulling out someone or getting pulled out. Tow straps are not for this.

Well some people buy the wrong straps and end up damaging trucks or themselves. Those two straps you see with the metal hooks at the end can break and fly through the back windshield of a truck and hit the driver.

How much do you want to spend? ARB makes a nice kit the comes with everything you need.

http://northridge4x4.com/proddetail....COVERY&cat=106

here is a strap and shackles and a nice carrying bag

http://northridge4x4.com/proddetail.php?prod=TMAX-KIT01

then the big money kit but this is probably some of the best stuff on the market.

i by accident jacked tow of my dad's diesel engine lifting straps, we used for lifted built diesels out of boat, and took them to mudfest and combinded them, well together the reach 15-20, and i have yanked all from friends trucks to palm trees down and so sign of tearing or breakage, i wanted to give tem back to my dad but to much torgue on the connection and well, they aint ever coming apart, so they are readily placed in MY toolbox

I like the ARB kit and if I didn't already have everything I would order one. I also would add the bag and the winch line. You might want to also look into Warn and Procomp I know they make some nice kits too.

No problem. just remember ARB rates their straps in kg not pounds.
