tranny drain plug

tranny drain plug
On my 2003 auto tranny there is no drain plug in the pan. I understand I need to drop the pan to drain the AT fluid out. Can I replace the pan with one that does have the drain plug? Would this be found on another ford model? Could I get one from an aftermarket place? Could a machine shop put one in?
Any suggestion?
Thanks

It is inconvenient not to have a drain plug on the trans however I think the reason Ford did not put one is so you wont change the fluid without changing the trans filter I don't thank you will find a pan with a plug and you will have to look at interior clearance to have one installed by a shop good luck

There is a deep sump aluminum pan for the A4LD that will fit. It has the drain plug. Downside is its 225 bucks, it does have extra capacity and cooling fins.
Your other option is the DIY kits, they run less than 20 bucks. You just drill a hole in your current pan. Debur and install the plug kit.
