removing alarm system

So my truck came with a pos aftermarket alarm system. i think it is audiovox. it gives me real POS vibes and i am getting sick of it. i think i have a few options, taking to a shop isnt one of them i can figure out how to do whatever i need to do though, not too worried. seems like something i can do easily, but will be a big pain in the *** project. its a basic unlock/lock remote that runs off of one button. if the alarm is tripped by the wrong sequence of unlocking/opening or whatever, the key has to be turned back to accesory then the unlock button on the remote pushed to get around the starter kill. which i have to do every time what i have now is a ticking time bomb, without a valet switch there is no way to get around the starter kill if something happens to the remote

i guess i could buy a new remote. anyone know how to do this and program it. i cant find any sort of valet button, which i think you would need for the programming sequence.

my other option is to replace it. i guess this would be a 2 part process, removing the old alarm and installing a new one. i would probably have to go for a little bit without remote lock/alarm system though in order to save up some cash (around 150 is what i would be able to spend, wish it was more).

I would guess the removal process is straight fowards, but a pain in the ***. i worry about ****ing up and not being able to start my truck again. trace all the wires coming out of the module (underneath my panel below the steering wheel) until they are spliced in somewhere then un splice them. i worry about knowing what to connect back up to what though.

then installing a new system. it would have to be remote start. and cheap. looks like directed electronics is the way to go. but cheap, like 150 bucks. but i would need a PATS bypass correct? how much do these run? wiring it in in something doable?

ive come across the a1 electronics kit for around 130
Remote Start & Security kit: A1 Electric Online Store

i also like the viper 5601 for around 140. i really like the remote
Viper - Viper 5601 1-Way SuperCode Security and Remote Start System

any other recomendations?

so this has been a bit of a rambly post

- what would i be looking at if i remove my system
- what all is it wired into? do i have to go into my doors and stuff or is it all pretty local stuff?

- whats the deal with pats bypass?

- whats involved in and what could i do with an extra channel? could i wire it to honk the horn? or flashers?

- any ideas to identify what alarm system i have in my car now?

thanks

unplugging most of it would be fine, but one switch runs to a relay thats run into the starter. so it wouldnt start.

but got it out! found installation instructions and it wasnt too bad taped and labeled the wires that will be useful for installing my new alarm system
