1995 Ranger 2.3L Questions
I bought this truck last fall and haven't used it till yesterday. The airbag light was on when I got it but the idling issue I am having only appeared yesterday, it was not there when I first got the truck.
I can turn the truck on and it will idle perfectly. Once I start to move and I engage the clutch the revs will jump and sit around 4000RPM, nothing else is applied(no brakes or throttle) I read through some old threads and it seems like it could either be a vacuum leak or the IAC? Just wondering if there are any common vacuum lines on these things that are known to go bad more then others. I was changing the air filter a couple of weeks ago and ended up breaking the clamp that holds the 2 portions of the air box together(was rusted beyond belief) and I haven't ordered a new one yet. I have the 2 sections duct taped together haha but it seems as though all the sensors are after the duct taped section so I didnt think this could affect the idle but maybe there is a vacuum line attached to the first part of the air box?
next problem is the air bag light, I know on some cars there are other components that are tied in with the airbag system and it can be as simple as a rusted grounding point. I was just wondering if there is a common issue on these that I could look at first?
Thanks,
Andrew
