Can't get aux. reverse lights to come on
About a year ago i wired a pair of 55watt lights under my bumper using a relay and ever since then they have worked great.
Overview of set up:
30 amp relay
power from fuse block under hood, fused at 30 amps
trigger from passenger side fuse panel by feet, fused at 2 amps to SPST switch
Today i bought a SPDT center off switch to attempt to make the lights come on when i shift into reverse. basically I just added the new switch, put the wire from the switch to the relay (trigger) on the middle blade of the switch. Put the 2amp fused wire from passenger side panel on top blade of SPDT switch, then ran a 2amp fused wire from the blk/pink supply used for the factory reverse lamps.
For whatever reason the lights aren't functioning properly. The 2 amp mini fuse that I added where i tapped the blk/pnk power line blew immediately and so did the 2amp fuse from the passenger side fuse panel.
I know 2 amps isn't very much but i never had a problem with it before i added the second trigger source. How much should the tail light trigger source be fused at? I have a 5amp mini on hand which i threw in but it still didn't make the lights come on. could i have fried the relay?
