rain with windows down is no good.
I dont think installing the head unit would cause the windows to fail. i.e., I dont think there's any wires for the windows in that part of your dash. the only thing i can think of is a fuse or a bad ground maybe? bad grounds cause all sorts of weird crap to happen.
if the head unit doesnt get power at all, im sure you have already, but check your connections again , especially if you need to splice the harness, and see if you can get the head unit to kick back on. you might need to mess with the harness for the radio if you think its a short. thats all i can think of off the top of my head. also, make sure everything behind the radio in the dash is plugged in. on my 01, theres some pretty electrical boxes back there. not sure EXACTLY what they're for though.
Good Luck Man!
