They look like they are painted blue.. that filters out light reducing the brightness.. but makes it look whiter..

No electrical specs at all, and $25 a pop. Could be legit but I doubt it. Truly, though, I just don't know because they really aren't telling you anything but "it's hotter, whiter, and blue".

How many amps or watts are they? They don't say. I hate that crap and if someone won't PUBLISH specs, I generally won't buy it. But hey, if you've got the money to drop give it a try.

Why not just buy Silverstars than some no-name brand that costs as much?

john if you can find ANY company that makes them, ill kiss your feet. its a new design mostly in 05 fords and some new durangos. it also happens to fall under the new legislation regarding production of aftermarket bulbs. there are no and will never be silverstars or even cool blues. at least not in the USA. those LUKS bulbs are from canadia i believe. i will ask for specs. what should i ask for, wattage i know is very important, i think stock is 55/65 on these new ones. what else shoud i look for, lumens?

Yes, to all.

But you don't know if their data is correct. Take a chance and do a long term test and review them if you like.

But read my write up on lamp technology. I believe it's a sticky isn't it? There are no exceptions to those rules for incandescent lighting. To summarize:

1. Brighter bulbs are either higher wattage, or more mechanically delicate.

2. Filter coatings reduce the light output.

One last thing: if those bulbs really are that color temperature, why do they NEED the blue coating?

Answer: they really aren't that white, and the coating is how they get there.

My perception: the ad is deceptive.

go with street glow bulbs that are 85/100 watt i believe. my friend put them in his 94 f-150 and even with his yellowed, cloudy lenses they are still nice. if i had the money id find them and buy some as the local radio shack doesnt sell them anymore.

basically, the DOT cracked down because of all the complaints from people who are "blinded" on the road by the brighter lights. so there was a law created that banned the creation of any NEW style lights. this happened right before the H13 (9008) bulb was released. so everyones hands are tied. sylvania only offers the standard and XV H13 bulb, but does not and will never offer a Cool Blue or SilverStar version. also, sylvania is rumored to be dropping its Xenarc HID conversion division, due to poor sales. so you see, im FUBAR!!

I thought the Silverstar's were completely legal, and DOT approved...sure, they aren't the 80/100 version's of some of the whack-jobbies out there, so if they are the same wattage -- what's the difference?

my friend checked it out after he bought his bulbs (the one with the street glows in his f-150) because the person he bought them from (radio shack) told him these were the last of them due to the supplier not being able to sell them to retailers anymore because they were ruled illegal.

well, my friend talked to someone personally, and his dad, and the person (someone that had something to do with rules governing the transportation department) said that brightness or intensity of the beams werent illegal, its the distance they can be seen. as long as your beams hit a certain point and go no further (effective aiming) then they are just fine.

adam, the silverstar product line that EXISTS NOW is fine, its grandfathered in. but the bubls in my truck were released AFTER the new legislation. thats why its so hard to find any aftermarket bulbs, and why im even CONSIDERING the cheapo ones in that auction
