During a trip we stopped for a break and my dog stepped on the door lock. I found out the hard way that my factory key fob does NOT unlock the doors on my '01 Ranger xlt when the keys are in the ignition!! is this normal and if not, what's the fix???

 

I can be driving down the road in my 05 Edge and hit lock, unlock, and it locks and unlocks, but the horn won't toot and the panic doesn't work when the key is on.
