Hello Ranger Froums!

I have a 1998 Ranger XLT-ex-cab, 4x4, and one of my crossmembers is too rotted and failed inspection. It's the crossmember that holds the front gas tank strap. It's rotted off one side (bottom 2 rivits), and where the gas tank strap mounts is rotted off too.


Are there aftermarket crossmembers available? Or just keep on salave yard hopping.

 

no aftermarket offerings as far as I know... but I could be wrong.... Junkyard hunting in another part of the country (like the Pacific Northwest) would be the best idea.





BUT...holy hell if THAT is rotted away, I can only wonder what else is rotted....

what's rotted on yours is an odd place to rot out, usually it's the leaf hangers and shackles that go completely **** up before anything else. And generally, if a vehicle lives 10 years in the belt, it's lucky...

 

Both rear leif sring hangers were rotted too (fixed lst year) :)

 

there are plenty of trucks that year in Kingston NH junkyard.
