Screamin Demon Coil Pack Questions--

Needed some info regarding the coil pack...

it lets you gap it out to the .60 area.. my question lies in..

What if I buy a high brand name spark plug that doesnt want you to exceed .45? Will that affect anything? Will the coil pack allow me to still use those without deterring anything at all?

Just curious, as I have already ordered up the coil pack and some plugs.. and now I'm jsut curious if I can go ahead and order these high tech Pulstar plugs.. figured I would demo them and let the forum know how they woudl work.

If you can think of anything bad with the gapping issue being kept at .45, please let me know!

I use the Screamin Demon coil pack with large gapped Bosch Platinum +4's and it works great. The plugs I have are basically unadjustable.

Overall, I'm not sure you can have too high a voltage -- obviously you can't hook up a 250KV power line to your plugs, lol -- but I mean in terms of a hotter coil pack. You should be fine.

Alright, just needed to make sure on that... Trying out some new toys and will be releasing the info on how well they work whenever they get in. Definatly taking a hit fo rthe team.. you woudl crap yourself if you saw how much each of these plugs are to purchase.

Take a look at this.. i actualyl read it in my Popular Science.. expensive as all getup per plug, but the concept is there, and I will take the plunge for the ranger guys and see just what will happen when we burn these in our engines

Already ordered up a set of 6, along with a coil pack and new wires from Wayne... next up, I may order it today, is a pair of JBA Headers

IF they actually improve 10% with our 4.0's....for me, it'll pay for itself in a few short months. I go through fuel like crazy driving to work and back.

Mike, be sure to let us know the outcome. I might be interested in these.

The only "problem" with that is you won't know how much change is seafoam, and how much is the plugs.

Well, I could seafoam it now.. I woudl jsut need to do an oil change.. i've got jsut some general run of the mill 10w30 available to use at the moment.

My ultimate plan is to switch out to Royal Purple on everything, pop all of this in, ge tan underdrive crank, headers, my exhaust and CAI are already in, and pretty much everything i can to icnrease MPG's and power in general (HP/Torque) while still sticking with the 4.0 in the truck. See what kind of numbers I can pull out with all of this.. a single part may not affect much, but when I've got all of this stuff working like an oiled machine, I will probably be expecting a good 23-24 MPG highway with increased everything all around

Expensive to switch into it all.. the Royal Purple will take a good hit on the wallet just clearing my engine out and switching all my lubricants to it.

You don't need to flush to use Royal Purple. I believe it's PAO base just like Amsoil.

I've done the same general thing, but all my lubes are Amsoil. Either one is good. I need every advantage I can get with all the weight on my truck from the SAS, heavier rear axle, 35" tires and wheels, topper, tools, full size spare, etc.

I replaced plugs and wires about 10k miles ago and I have 80k miles on there is there any point in switching the coil pack too after that long?

The coil distributor is usually good for the life of the truck I presume.. the only difference in switching, is it gives you mroe oomph per charge.. lets you burn up some more % of the fuel. Which is why Im so caught on the new plugs I was talking about earlier.. they might be a dream-plug for any of us adventurous enough to purchase them.

You should be good on your coil pack, I may recommend getting some new plug-wires at least if you havent done that yet.

The Ranger coil pack stock is pretty hot. The 'Demon is hotter. That can be and advantage but it's not an absolute necessity. I thought it might be good to add for the +4's which could benefit from extra oomph to really fire solidly.

you don't have too.......a stock coil pack should last forever.....if you are wanting a little better spark, then yes...

Ahh, depends though.. i do have work tomorrow.. really do gotta head out right now though, I'll wake up early tomorrow and toss them on... then start 'er up and see how she purs.. Honestly, with the condition a lot of the stuff on the truck has been, I wouldst be surprised if this is only like the second set of plugs this truck has had in its lifetime, lol
