Stereo Power Plug not working?

Stereo Power Plug not working?
Was working today on the truck and one of my many jobs was to hook up a stereo. Turns out either the stereo is dead, or my truck's power cord that goes into the radio is dead. I turned on the key to acc and tried touching the power cord and nothing, no buzz, nothing. I plugged it in to stereo, and no lights came on. >.> Fuse is good, 10A fuse is in right place and isn't blown.
Where should I be looking? Where does the normal power come from? :\ I'd love to get it working. Right now I have 1 black cord that has a plug kind of thing, and two sets of like 6 wires or so which I assume are for the speakers/radio.
Truck is an 89 ranger XLT. Hoping someone can help! :D
Edit: Also, whenever I start her in the morning she always dies on the first go. Sputters dead, and on the second go she's always fine but she hesitates when I give her gas. Like it misses or something (until she warms up). Any idea what would cause this?
And I'm looking for weekend jobs like little tuning things, what should I do? I've replaced the spark plugs, changed the oil, flushed the radiator, anything else?

You should have two positive power wires for the cd player. Make sure those are both hooked up or it won't work. Can't find a diagram for an 89 but a 90-92 the hot at all times power wire is light green/yellow and hot in accessory is yellow/black. Then you need your black ground hooked up. The black wire you're describing almost sounds like your antenna wire?
The wiring diagram for a 90-92 can be found here. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...base_radio.pdf

Maybe that is what the black wire is. I don't see any other wires though sticking out of my console...
I'll have to take a picture I guess.
Thats what I see coming out.
One larger black wire, which supposedly is the antenna wire. I don't see a power cord. I'll have to look I guess :S
Edit:
That's what it looks like. Am I missing the power cords? :s
Edit 2: This is stereo's back

Now I found out that the orange/peach wire on my stereo says: "To terminal always supplied with power regardless of ignition switch position"
and my red wire on stereo says "To electrical terminal controlled by ignition switch (12V DC) On/Off"
It's starting to make sense, but I don't know how to wire it.

That matches my truck's wires.
Radio wires (power ones) are as follow:
(starting on left side with face of radio facing me)
Blue / peach / grey with white / grey with red / green and green with red (two wires connected together) / red / black
Hmm?
Edit: I think I had it hooked up right, but I turn key and nothing happens. :s It sparked a couple of times while I was wiring it so now I know the power is coming through. BUT no lights are lighting up on the stereo :\
