Offroad light help

Ok so I have finally decided on putting 4 offroad lights on the front of my truck. Now I just have a few questions:

KC or Hella? I know most guys like KC and that's what I'm leaning towards right now but I want to hear what the Hella guys have to say.

What combo should I run? Driving/fog, Long range/fog, Long range/driving, all long range?

HAHA...i wonder who gave you this idea......hmmm......???? lol.

Just a suggestion......go ebay....or use a 20% off coupon at 4WheelParts to get your lights. 20% is only off of one item....so use it twice. lol. Hella are cheaper too.

I wonder what Stone's post will say...lol.

Hum, i dont know lol. I've been thinking about it for a while but just haven't seen it on a truck. I'll probably get them off eBay just cause its a lot cheaper. I think we all know what Stone's post will say haha. I'm basically just wondering what light patters to get.

the beggest thing is the kcs are 100w most of the "regular" hellas ive looked into were 55w but you can upgrade the bulbs..

and if it were me and iw as gettin four lights on my truck it would depend where i was putting them.. sounds like your gunna put them on the bumper so id prolly get two dring and two pencil or long range. it looks liek you already have fogs to take care of the really close stuff, the low beams to be in the middle the driving to be middle and far and the long range to be waaaay out there..

at least thats what im doin..

KC's are avaliable with 100w, 130w, 150w.

And I believe all Hellas are 55w.

Now if only KC made slimlites in 150w....that'd be sweet.

the kc's most have are the kind you can't use on road. i prefer the hella 500 series because it works off road and it is still legal for use on the road. and if you do get 4 lights (2 sets) and do choose kc, get one long range set and one driving set. if you choose hella, get two driving sets.

FYI you can only run on the street 4 forward facing lights at one time.. so even if you have hella 55w lights.. you have to turn off your fogs.. and can only run 1 set to be legal...

plus the way the lens and reflexive housing is the 55w hella are much brighter then standard headlights and you are a jerk to run them and blind people... on standard streets stick to normal headlights please...

and thats coming from the one that has more candle power then over 3/4 of this site...

my hellas are about as bright as my high beams but they go farther.

if they are going on the roof i would say KCs because i think the thin hella's would look funny but on the bumper i would say hellas...

if it was me i would run 2 fogs 2 long range if i could get them..
how about those new lights that you can adjust the light to go from fog to long range? only if you really want to drop some cash though

I run driving lights on top of the bumper, only for back-roads. I have fogs under the bumper for foggy conditions only. Creating excess glare pisses people off.

i am running 4 hella 500s on my truck, 2 driving and 2 fog. the light output is great on the hellas but i have had them on my truck about a year and so far i have replaced 3 of the housings and 2 lenses. they are good lights for the money but you get what you pay for. the hellas are a plastic composite and they break easily. the lenses just broke from rocks and road debris. next time i will be getting kc or piaa because in my oppinion they are built a lot better.

I have 4 hella 500's on my truck 2-fog and 2-driving
the fog lights are great in snow/rain/fog obviously and I shut my headlights off when i run with the fog lights on and have much better light but does not bother oncoming traffic(none flash there lights at me anyways)
the 2 driving lights have what they call a parabalic lense in them and can see quit a distance away and are for offroad use only/or no traffic around-these 2 lights IMO are 10x better than the 2 KC lights i had on my previous truck-they were 130w lights but i forget which exact model they were, but the hellas are better in my opinion
I have all 4 lights mounted on my brush guard and have had no problem with lenses or housings having damage to them while the kc lights i had started to rust
KC lights are good lights if you get the right ones-Redneckstone knows which ones are the good ones-I got the bad ones but either way I like my hellas just fine-and priced alot better

thanks for the info. but, remember, i've been driving and using hella lights (i know all the laws) since 1983. i also have 11 forward facing lights on my truck, but i only use the headlights.occasionally the foglights in bad weather. the off road lights are used for just that. OFFROAD.
