Hello all,

(My truck is the distributor-less, dual-plug engine.)

I haven't been to this forum in a while because I thought my woes with my Ranger were over... apparently not.

I've been trying to get my truck to pass the CA Smog Check and I keep going back and having their technicians tell me I'm still missing pieces.

At this point, I've got everything back to stock except for one thing. There is a 2 inch diameter hose coming off of the frontal intake tube for the air cleaner system... From what the technician told me, this tube is supposed to connect to a "heat shield" that bolts over the exhaust manifold to pull hot air into the cleaner system.

I don't have this heat shield. I also can't seem to find anything online about a part number to purchase it. Can anyone give me some help about locating this piece? It seems like it's the last piece of my puzzle, and it could end up making me leave my truck in my parking spot until I can track it down.

Any help would be great. Pictures of what I'm looking for, places I could get the part, etc. Thanks in advance! (Please let me know if there's any other information you need.)

 

You can see the heat shield with the hose to the air cleaner on mine in the picture below. As for locating one, a junkyard is prob your best bet. Otherwise I'd bet its a dealer only part...
