2004 single cab 60/40 split to buckets help
Hi. I have a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge 2x4 and want to change the split seats in it to 2 bucket seats. I went looking and found 2002 Mercury Mountaineer seats but there’s no way to make them work. I then went and got a passenger seat out of a wrecked 2000 Mustang and was going to swap the seat tracks but they are totally different. What exactly do I need to get to make true buckets fit in the single cab, and if I were able to, are there any power seat options I could put in?

First what Cab do you have ?
What year is your Ranger ?
Simplest thing... is find a good Passenger Seat of similar year Ranger, use the back from your drivers seat, and switch the tracks.
Watch the tracks some bolt in but some are welded in place.
Also, watch the seat pan, just under the seat, it too may need to be changed but mine had the same holes on both sides of the pan.
If you have an Extended Cab, the Mountaineer seat might fit, do some measuring and see. I'm thinking the Mountaineer seats are similar to the Explorer Seats.
The Explorer Style Seat will fit the Extended Cabs but not the Standard Cabs and changing the tracks is almost out of the question. Also I found the Ex Seats to be too big for the Standard Cab Rangers, unless you are 4'11,,, !
Look around the JY, get the best set of Ranger Bucket Seats you can find within your year ranger or at least have detachable tracks to swap if necessary, and go to it.
Just make sure the framework is in good condition, if the seats have damaged covers, you can get them replaced, the foam can be replaced too, heat can be added, it is up to you just how far you go and of course $$$ !
With the correct tracks and sized seats the swap is an easy one !

Bucket seats from Explorers up to 2001 will pretty much bolt in to the Rangers of that era. In 2002 the Explorers were re-designed and pretty much impossible to swap the seats over. I did this swap on my truck last fall, came out really nice. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Good luck!
