Icon6 MUSTANG/TAURUS DOME LIGHT MOD.

HI!... Went out to the local junk yard today and picked up a dome light from a TAURUS. The one for the Mustang is the same. As you know the Ranger has a single dome light with no map lights at all and it doesn't get too bright.

This one has 3 lights in it. One in the center that works as a dome light, and the other two are map lights controlled by switches. Mine came a very light gray. My Ranger's interior is medium gray. So I dismantled it and then sandblasted it on low PSI. Then I painted it to match my interior. I'll be installing it tomorrow. I'll post up some more pics.

I've been looking at the thread of interior parts you've been sandblasting and then painting. What paint is it because it seems to match really well?

HI!... It's made by SEM. It comes in a spraybomb, but the paint is more like a dye and penetrates the plastic. You can get it at your local body shop supply store. I got mine in town here at CROSS CANADA.

Does it just go in place of the stocker? Any modification needed?

How hard are those to wire up? I've been thinking about that mod, cheap and it seems 100x more functional.

Kyle it will screw right in your truck, no need for anything else. 04+ you have to add a wire.

I'd say an 00 plus, that one looks similar to the one in my mom's 01. Her's just doesn't have that outer shell on it its just a oval plastic piece.

What year taurus did that come out of neal?

I have found them as far back as the early 90's. Some ford compact cars also have them. They are all the same. You can also find "explorer" style dome lights in tauruses and other ford full sized cars.

This is possibly the best mod I have done to my truck and I think possibly the only one that I have not removed. lol
