bump!
yep theres a california, ky, its northern ky right on the ohio border.
i could probably do another meet, maybe some that missed out on the last could make it.
there are some guys on FRF talking about getting a meet together from like evansville indiana, that area, who said they would be down to meet in louisville. I dont know where and would not be looking forward to driving in louisville, but i'm the one that suggested the place. its about 1.5 hours drive for them, under an hour for me, two hours for Thorny, and maybe 1.5- hour and 45 from the lexington area. so i dunno if thats something we want to consider. there are several in louisville as well that could probably come by. soo... just throwing that out there.
they threw out weekend before thanksgiving. if that works for anyone here.

how about waterfront park? its right on the river.
there's a joe's crab shack right close or we could bring food and stuff to grill out or whatever. And theres some different parking lots for us to take over. See attached photo, joes crab shack on the left, and you can see several lots along that River Rd we could pull off in to hang out or whatever.
thoughts?
i'm down for whatever. joes crab shack would definitely be a good plan B if its cold as ***** out there. I dunno if i'd be totally down to cook anything myself but that's a possibility if someone else wants to take charge of that...

well guy on RPS cant make it the 19th and was wondering if we could shift the date. The next best options are this weekend, if it's not too soon to get off work or whatever, or dec 3.
opinions on those? if this saturday is too soon, then dec 3 is the soonest to accomodate this guy. me personally i'm real flexible.
heck... lets try and shoot for this saturday if we can get enough interest?

17th. You go to the distillery, go on a tour (5-10 bucks each), and drink free bourbon. Go to http://www.kentuckybourbontrail.com. I am doing the Passport, which is you hit all 6 distilleries, take all 6 tours, and they stamp your "passport". Once you fill it out, you send it in, they send you a t-shirt. May sound lame to a lot of people, but i love learning about historic KY landmarks, so it should be fun.

its according on what you like.
Me, i drink Fighting **** on a daily (fawwk all of you non-alkies) basis, and for the price, its awesome. 18 bucks for a 5th, and its 103 and doesn't have the dirt taste that Bullet or Makers has.
Now, once my money situation gets back going again, Woodford is my choice. Very smokey, a lot of vanilla, but the smoothest after taste of all the bourbons i have tasted.
If I'm celebrating something, i go straight to Booker's. It's a barrel straight bourbon by Jim Beam. It is by far, the best bourbon i have ever tasted. Although it isn't the most expensive, it isn't a bargain by any means. Cheapest i have seen is 65 a bottle. Which is why this is just a sipping bourbon. You really enjoy all the flavors and it make's your taste buds and throat go apesh1t.
Now i am sure some of you are asking, "What about ol' Pappy?" I have tasted/drank almost every bourbon brewed in the KY. As i said, it is one of my passions. Pappy Van, Blanton's, Evan William's 23 YO, etc are amazing, don't get me wrong, but Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, and Fighting **** are the top 3.
Here are my favs. now, L don't like bourbon straight. I like bourbon with a splash of Coke. Not a splash of Pepsi or Diet coke or whatever else, Splash of Coke. That's it. The Coke takes the "punch you in the freaking face" part out. If you truely enjoy bourbon, you will respect my choices....
1. Booker's
2. Woodford Reserve
3. Blanton's
4. Buffalo Trace
5. Old Rip Van Winle Family Reserve
6. Pappy Van Winkle
7. Evan Williams 23 YO
8. Russel's Reserve 10 YO
9. Baker's
There are many Rare single malts out there i haven't tasted, but this is my "mass production" list.
I"m still hunting the rares......

I uh, got some of that stuff in the cupboard for when company comes over.
I'm not much of a bourbon drinker. but theres a brewery in MI, that has about 300 different beers they brew during the year. Problem is, they only sell certain beer, at certain bars, at certain times of the year.
they offer a challenge, If you can drink one of each of their beers (they are 14% abv) and get your card stamped at the bar they serve it. you get free beer from them for a year. any beer, any amount.
I've got my card half-filled.

That's cool I'll have to get some nice stuff to try sometime. When I say I'm cheap... I mean like $8 for a fifth haha. $20 is a splurge but I'd be down to spend like $40 every once in a while on something.
I'm still experimenting with a lot of different alcohols to see what I like. I just been drinking most stuff straight though.

well as for this meet... i think we will stick with nov. 19th. Dec 3rd is the big UK UNC game and I plan on being there. There is actually a game the 19th at 12PM but I will push through it and watch the replay on ESPN3 later...
soo i guess just say the 19th in louisville. eat either joes crab shack or tumblweed, right on the river. say 11am.
Josh I know you said you cant make that... but.. looks like the most convenient time for the most people.
