Hello from the Mojave Desert of SoCal

Hello folks. I've poked around here on and off for many years. When I need to check out some info regarding a Ranger. This is a fine source. So while looking up info on my son's friend's 99 Super Cab, I decided to go ahead and join finally.

I've been interested in Rangers since Ford introduced them 30 years ago. I don't currently own a Ranger since some fool made a left turn right in front of me on a road with a 55mph speed limit. Sacrificed a Ranger to remove a Nissan from the roads. I would be happy to have a replacement for it.

Since I live in the Mojave Desert and am a long-time offroad racer, any future Ranger will be a desert pre-runner truck. Bigger tires and wheels on long travel suspension, roll cage and probably some fiberglass bodywork too are the way it will be.

While I have worn a wide range of hats in my professional career, including plastics research, product liability, engineering manufacturing assembly lines for video games and million gallon water tanks and 16" water mains, building custom houses in the high Sierras, CAD drafting, community water system consultant and operator, the hat I wear most often since the mid 1980s is a welding helmet.

I have built a great many different types of race cars and Hot Rods over the years. From Trans Am road racers to a dry lakes streamliner to Super Modifieds, to Deuce Roadsters to Baja-winning buggies to restoring 1940s Midgets. But offroaders are my favorite category.

I'm a life-long Ford guy. I have a 1-owner '61 Falcon, a '61 F100 with a 428CJ and a '64 Falcon V8.

I don't consider myself to be a "mechanic", but like many on here, I do most all work on all of my own vehicles by myself. There is ALWAYS more to learn about cars and trucks, and that's part of why I get involved with forums like this.
