hey guys

guess i should post up here before i start posting all over the forums too much. im john.
just a 23 year old guy living in socal a little ways north of temecula. i have a blue 95 ranger 3.0 single cab 4x2 manual ive had a couple of taurus's so im comfortable with working on my Vulcan. there is a lot of places that i may or may not be able to drive in around here that i explore. im always building more confidence in my trucks off road ability despite its handicap. i have a fair amount of experience and ability(dont want to sound cocky but this fat kid has surprised his fair share of "bros") on a dirt bike, so making the plunge into the truck off road world has come pretty easily. i have quickly learned that i need bigger tires and a lift.(and spares ive already had to call in to work because a rock punctured the tire sidewall on one of my only 4 tires.) wish the truck would get better mileage, and like every one else i wish it had more power. im looking into swapping a duratec or a 302 in some day, but maybe not in my currant truck as it is too small and i need an extra cab, sooner rather than later. look forward to getting to know you guys.

what i don't get (keep in mind this is an opinion, not criticism) is people who lift a 2wd, to off road... i mean, if you really want to off road, and are going to be putting money into your truck, why not start with a vehicle that stock is going to be capable?

but to each their own... i like lowered trucks if they are done well... i would lower a 2wd, and raise a 4wd...

clean looking truck you have there though

i paint houses in and out i also to repair work texture, drywall, stucco and so on.
yeah i understand where you are coming from. its just a matter of money for me. i got a great deal on the truck, and i needed a truck.from the beginning i planed on this truck being a temporary fix. i knew it wasn't exactly what i want, or precisely what i needed but like i said i needed a truck. i really want a 4x4 n i REALLY need an extra cab and this truck is neither. as far as off-roading goes ive gotten up some pretty damn steep rutty rocky places. i have clearance issues. i figure ill get another ranger so whatever i upgrade i can take off this truck and put it on my new truck. besides 4'' lift for 100 bucks too good to pass up BTW: thanks for the complement. a lot of patience and elbow grease went into bringing that truck back to a respectable looking condition. i just want to enjoy my truck n have fun.with it and i am. :)

where are you getting a 4" lift for 100$? i also doubt that it will work on a 4wd ranger (depends on the lift)

i met some kids and a couple of their dads that all drive rangers. i guess they pool they're money together and continually buy busted rangers and parts for them on craigs list or whatever. either way at any given time they will have 2 or 3 cabs lying around maybe a bed or too and doors n all kinds of extra parts. i wouldn't buy the lift if it didn't feel right. but the lift is just a drop bracket 4.5" lift springs and aftermarket camber caster bolts. it may not work out for any number of reasons but i do like to daydream about it. it does not come with a pitman arm or bent I-beams.
