Icon7 need help in WV!

Hello folks, i need some help. I have a 1999 Ranger with 3.0 Flex Fuel engine, 8th digit Vin Code of "V". The cam synchro gear failed and the engine lost oil pressure, and it is now beyond repair. I did find another engine from a wrecked 1999, it is a 3.0, but the 8th digit is a "U". Does someone know if the 2 engines are interchangeable?

Your response is appreciated.

The 3.0L blocks are the same. You should be able to get away with using the "U" and then putting your flex fuel stuff onto it!

Thanks for the reply-after researching, the best, most knowledgeable answer I have found tells me that I need to stick with the flex fuel engine. There are issues with timing and the computer would need changed, and this might lead to other things that I really don't want to deal with. My summation is " don't buy a 1999 or 2000 ranger.

I think you should specify not buying a flex fuel 99 or y2k tuck. There are a number of guys who own those year trucks on here.
