New dude from Wisconsin
My name is Nate and I have a 2002 FX4, which is one of my favorite vehicles that I have ever owned. I've been waiting for some warm weather so that I can get back at my truck again(recently had a week long cold snap of -25, with -45 wind chills). I'm glad to be a part of this site because of all the great advice, tips, mods, and pics and look forward to shooting the s#*t with all of you.

Welcome Nate!
I'm a fellow 2002 FX4 owner, we're a rare breed... as everyone overlooks the 02's for the 03-07 LII's. Don't know how long you've had your truck, but a couple things to look out for. One big issue thats begun to come up with the 02's in the automatics is the torsen diff grenading. I was the first on the site to have it happen... grenaded at 45 mph. Was approached a few months later by another member, can't remember his name, on the fact his blew up as well, same speed, same scenario. And a couple months ago another member who has a red 02 FX4 in an auto had his blow up. My suggestion, buy a Trac Loc L/S diff before it happens, just to save yourself from having to rebuild the rear end.
Otherwise, they're solid trucks with their quirks!

Yeah Nate, sadly Ford only honors the manual's... found this out the hard way. Personally, I see it coming to a Class Action Lawsuit if it gets too out of hand. Some of the history I've found out on it is this-
Torsen recalled ALL the diffs for the FX4's due to the casing cracking, but Ford opted to only recall the manuals... partly IMO because the manuals aren't that common, they're production numbers are lower than the auto's. Fords excuse for it, the auto's don't send the same lhock load the manuals do... bull**** they don't. So I've got all the documentations on my expenses on fixing it as well as all the broken parts from the diff sitting in the garage waiting for something to happen.

Well this may turn out to be very good for me. like i said before my rearend locked up about 2 months ago. I had to pay for it out of my own pocket. only problem is i bought the truck used so i don't know if the previous owner had the recall done
