that really is such a small difference in weight, Id keep them. it truly wont hurt your engine in the least.

ford only rates the motor for 5w-20 because of better mpg ratings n shiz with the epa. im honestly more scared running the 20w in my duratec because it doesnt have near the higher rpm protection of a 30w. as soon as im off this warranty maintenance bs its 5w-30 mobil1 ext perf all the way

 

errr thats sketchy im just following my warranty and they allow me to use my royal purple 5W20 so for the time being ima just sell these 2 boxes of 5W30

Ive been running 5/30 in my 3.0l since I bought it over 5 yrs ago.
I can understand about the warranty, but I highly doubt they will know the difference between 20/30, especially if pulled from the engine after being used.

but w/e it is a good price and Im almost tempted. just finances are weak right now due to getting raped registering an out of state car I bought last week (almost $600.0 !!)

 

if you look in the manual it says you can use 5-30

they do 5-20 for mpg

btw that is a great deal for those cases

 

trust me registering my truck was around 945$ cause it was out of state wasn't that bad
and id go with the 5w30 but ive already got 4 boxes of 5w20 and my warranty ford does all the work for free might as well keep the 5w20 since i had to fight to get them off synthetic blend oil as it is..

but great priced 5w30 hope someone snags it and add's to my superlift savings

 

Holy crap dude! If your dealer gets hissy over 5w30 then they're gonna **** blood over the superlift!

 

lol ya to be honest they said they wouldnt care about a suspension lift or bigger tires ect.. as long as i had a programmer to compensate for the speedo being off.

5w30 oil is what my dealership uses

and $50.00 for 24 bottles of 5w30 royal purple oil is a hell of a deal

up here they charge $ 13.00 cdn for a 1 litre bottle

if the 5.4 says 5-20 you should really run 5-20.. I've heard of the variable valve crap gumming up from people not using 5-20.

but more likely it has to do with the frequency they changed their oil..


If you still have a case in like 2 weeks I'll take it off your hands. My last job I could get it at $6/qt now I have to pay retail price which is $9/qt...

 

using a slightly thicker oil has benefits in regards to longer engine life
