Poor Mans Spare Tire Carrier?

Don't exactly know if anyone has thougth of this but...i was under my truck replacing the shocks when i had to take out the spare tire carrier which is three peices altogether. Has anyone ever thought of just flipping that over and adding L brackets to the "hoop" and bolting it to the bed instead. I guess its kinda a poor mans tire carrier.

That is a pretty neat idea but for $100 or whatever the bed carriers cost I would rather have that for looks sake!!
