Diff cover is the only spot on my truck that has some rust. It was beginning to bubble up the steel so after debating getting a thick steel one, I went with an OEM one at cost. I ordered a skidplate for it from Rusty's Offroad.
Painted it Ford silver metallic because thats really all I had for color at home. Upol primer and upol clear with ppg paint that im waiting for to dry at the moment
LOVE this cordless impact. Snap on ftw
Draining
Good ol brakleen to clean the cover mounting surface on the axle after removing any remaining gasket
I'll post the installed picture later.

couldn't pass up getting this stuff at cost and since i have until friday off, why the hell not haha. the motorcraft gasket maker was free which was nice. Didn't have to go and spend 12 bucks on a small tube of grey RTV

I had some but theres no way i'd run a red diff cover lol its too tacky. I'm probably going to spray it black at some point

Plus, its really no hassle the way i look at it. With a Gasket, I've got to line it up and make sure that i'm not crushing the screwholes or what have you. With the RTV, Its just: Lay a nice bead around the outer edge, press cover on, and tighten down.

I use RTV all the time. I have the Zep Brand Silicone stuff. It works great everywhere.

Lights off
lights on (switches back and forth like a chevy)
and yeah, i don't run the M/T caps. I like the look of the OEM ones better plus the M/T ones tend to rust as i learned on my last truck. I have 5 brand new M/T caps in their unopened bags. 5 because i have a matching rim and tire for my spare.
my wheels are indeed polished under the satin black. got bored of polished wheels so ill have it like this for quite a while
