The build of Duck (1994 4x4)

I got my first truck a couple weeks ago. it is a 94 xlt 4x4, it has the 4.0l and the automatic transmission. There isnt any rust on the thing and the only thing wrong with it is the bed. I got it from a younger guy who was going through a divorce and had to sell stuff. i got this lil guy for $200!! the thing runs great and it has 175xxx miles.
He told me that he hit a cow with it and it bashed the front in then swung around and smoked the driverside bed. after that he just drove it around on the farm and beat on it (which brings us to the otherside of the bed... he got a little to close to the fence post)
So far i have just been buying parts and fixing little things..
I bought a few things to start me off with for mods
-2" lift kit
-Exhaust work
-Rockford fosgate speakers
-CB radio
-bedlined some things
-did the throttle cable mod

Eventually i plan on sasing but i dont have the money right now. i also plan on doing a flatbed, new bed, or fiberglass bed sides.

Coming soon is tires, bedlined wheels, and custom air filter setup. I also might put on manual hubs
also dont mind the different wheels on the back i ran over a 1/4-20 bolt one day and had to throw those on.

i only have one pic of the truck from when i bought it and it is of the front bashed in. here is how the truck sits now for some reason i couldnt get my phone to focus...

Bedlined the front fender flares still need to do the rear

pos bed

Cb it doesnt look straight but it is dont worry lol

4x4 was spotty so i took it apart and found one was welded... so i welded the other since i dont drive it more than a mile every day all under 30 mph

bedlined grill and turn signal valence trim stuff

thats all for today

Lol

Do they really not make aftermarket valve covers for these things??? Mine are toasted, hopefully changing the gaskets will fix the leak. Picked up some el cheapo dynamat today, speakers are hopefully going in on thursday.

Got my tires balanced and put on the other day:D
Yesterday i put my speakers in and covered up some holes for better sound quality.
Found a dirt/mud road since all the snow has been melting, definitely one weird winter, any way pics!!!

While changing tires i found out i need to change my lower ball joints soon so thats up next. gonna put the front part of my lift too.

x2. Definitely helps. Are you able to open that gas door with that dent there? Might be able to find a cheap bed at a junk yard if you care about that. That color was pretty common. Did you put any dynamat on the outer door skin?

Surprisingly it opens fine. i am not sure what im going to do for a bed yet since i change my mind all the time lol, but that isnt gonna stay on there.
if i remove the rear swaybar will the trucks handling get way out of whack? just looking to get better flex and it isnt like i drive it like a race car. I plan on building quick discos for the front.

nice work so far. the rear swaybar won't affect your handling much at all and since you're not driving it far or fast, you definitely won't notice. It will however, give you better "flex"

so its time for a truck update...
i took my rear sway bar off a while ago and didn't even notice it on road. it does ride a lot smoother on crappy gravel and level b roads. i haven't really done much to it since, just drove it around and beat on it.
I did pick this lil guy up this morning though.

It came out of a police mustang. it has carbon fiber clutch pads on it already and i got it for 50 bucks.
I also got it stuck in 4 feet of powder snow the other day so that was fun.
My dads friend got a lift for his garage so hopefully we can get my lsd and lift in soon, his garage is also heated so that makes things better.
Also i think i might go sas because a guy my dad knows is parting out a jeep cherokee so i might be able to snag the dana 30 out of it cheap.
is there anything else i should get from the jeep?

So it finally got warm out the other day. Since it is spring and muddy out i had a little bit of fun in the mud the otherday. Took in some body damage too on a cool trail we found. Today i put the front of my lift on and am pretty excited to test out my new ground clearance. I will have pics of the damage and lift tommorow. Also thinking about a manual swap for it too. Do you guys think i could squeeze 33's in there now, the 31's arent as big as i thought they were going to be. Might try to find some bald 33s to check for fitment.
Also coming soon is the box being taken off, frame being repainted with bedliner and lift the rear end. I was thinking about the chevy 63''/64" leaf swap too.

I also forgot about these

These things helped out so much!!! and they were only $3. We will see if they are durable or not though. I would definitely recommend them, they are from ebay.
I took pics with my gopro this time but they still arent as good as i want them, atleast they arent fuzzy though... also notice the toolbox, i will be bedlining that aswell.

Needs aligned now...

Body damage

Another pic of the lift/ leveling kit.

My exhaust, i wanted it out from under my truck since the previous owner took it off... i am not sure if it will stay like this or not yet.

Updated to do list:
-ATF change/flush with new tranny filter
-rear lift
-Lsd
-better lighting
-bedline wheels
-bedline toolbox
-60/40 mod???
-ford emblem color change for grill
-find some blaze orange paint for diff cover and other susp. parts
-Paint frame with bedliner
-find 1 new rear tire since my chevy friend thought my truck didnt have any nuts, and i dont have a spare.

So heres an update of the truck.
i did valve cover gaskets and painted the covers.
I did have to buy a new valve cover for my driver side, multiple rust holes.
before

after

Went on a kayak trip and had my wheel bearings on the driver side make some serious noise, so now its up on jack stands getting those replaced. I can not get the spindles off though. Does anybody have any tricks for that? EDIT: Im doing ball joints to so thats why the spindle needs to come off.
Replaced my cooling fan as it was about to grenade.
since it is apart i figured now would be the time to paint the wheels.

Also bought some leds for $8 off of ebay so we will see how bad these are lol.

So i got the truck all back together along time ago and got a job at my local autobody shop, so now the money is starting to flow in. The other day i got the random urge to chop my 60/40 seat.

It didnt turn out to bad... eventually i will be getting real bucket seats that will actually keep me in place.

I used fishing line to stitch it back up. i was going to get seat covers but it dont mind the way it looks.
I went to a trail i used to go on with the fourwheelers on all the time.

I need to start bringing my camera, or just leave it in my truck.
Also, i found a guy that has will sell me 1979 ford bronco axles and everything attatched to them, even the coil buckets and radius arm mounts for $600 should i offer him 500 or is that to high. d44 and ford 9''. i also know where i can get some 36'' super swampers and a spool for the 9'' for cheap... or free.

Ive decided that i am going to be buying a jeep cherokee for my dd and this will be my trail rig since its so beat up anyways. there is an offroad club in my area that has the requirements of atleast 35'' tires and locked front and rear so my goal is to join that group and wheel with them. Later this summer i am going to buy a tubing bender and notcher and build my self a tubebed and bumpers with an exo cage. so i am pretty excited for this summer i guess.

My friend might be scrapping his truck so if he does i will be getting his 63'' leafs for $20.
I found a 79 f150 4x4 that runs for $500 so im not sure which route i will go with for axles. i could probably make my money back with the 351w thats in it. or i could put it in my truck but im kind of leaning towards a cummins 4bt. but thats way down the road lol.

So i will be camping and offroading next weekend at a clubs land. the club is called miobi, make it or break it, so i am pretty excited for that. in prep for it i have put in my 2 inch lift shackles, tow hooks, new tow strap. now i need to put in a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. i also want to put in my lsd and get some bigger and more aggressive tires. Tomorrow i will be going to get tires for the trailer so i will see what he has for 32 to 33 inch mud terrains. i am not sure if they will fit or not so i am getting the fenders ready to trim.

I got my car going too.
it is a 1995 mustang gt. its lowered about 2 or 3 inches i think. 6 spoke tsw 18inch wheels, offroad x pipe with what i think are flowmaster 40s??? the car was my uncles and when he passed away back in 03 it went to my grandpa, he then dropped the clutch with the grippy tires and 80 horse shot of nitrous... that turned out well and blew the tranny so it has sat for along time. i put in a new tranny and also had to replace almost everything fuel related. i got a tank and brand new 340lph fuel pump for $40, the tank was even coated and painted. i for some reason dont have pics of it so i will get some tomorrow.
my uncles goal was to get it up to spec to auto cross/ road race it. so i would like to finish what he started and keep it as a memory of him.
