Project 4x2-4x4 (Pic intensive)
Well, some of you may have seen my thread in the drivetrain forum, (here) but this will be the thread I'm gonna update as I move slowly with this project.
Lets start.
The beast.
The beast with a 36x15.5x15 next to it..
Some of the parts I got.
Had to go all the way up here for it all though...
And drive thru this..
Today's progress.
Basically, just started to take it all apart, and clean up/paint whatever I'm keeping.
Pretty much it for today, Have to buy the balljoints/hub so I can reassemble that side. Plus, I gotta wash my truck and i only have 4 hours till I gotta be at work.
Theres supposed to be a license plate there..

Looks good to me man! You're on the right track... Should really move this to the Project log section though (mods).
I'd put all new components under it (TRE's, ball joints, bushings, etc) while you have it all off and easily accessible.
Are you going to run the 98-00 Vaccum hub assembly or the 01+ live axle set up? In the picture with that hub, it looked like the old style... Definitely a better setup.

I would suggest going with the vaccum style if you have thought about it at all... There's a quick easy mod to do to them to make them lock in just like the avm hubs that works everytime, plus they won't spin in regular driving... So you use less fuel. Just a thought.
I have live axles and wished I had the other style. They're just easier and more efficient.

So. Finally got some more work done on it.
mmm. Camo..
Caliper brackets.
Knuckle, waiting on a new steel wire brush and then paint.
Front diff, waiting new seals, and some much needed cleaning. Bearings all checked out.
My girls, cleaning the diff cover.
On a side note.. New toy!!!
And my engine bay.
Question.. Spicer, or moog balljoints?
