What area of the world is he in? What ISP's? Also, for each of those locations, can he tell me what the IP is being resolved to?
To get me the IP, do the following:
Start
Run
cmd (or command if windows 98)
nslookup ranger-forums.com
Post the results, or PM them to me.
THanks!

Apparently its all our fault. I dunno why the hell r-f.com is bein ghey, but it went away after a while for me. Do you have a home network Jared? Try unplugging it and then restarting it all.

DNS is Domain Name Service. Basically, on the regular Internet, everything uses an IP address. It looks something like 192.168.12.49, for example. What DNS does is associates that IP address with a name, such as ranger-forums.com. So, rather than having to remember a hundred different IP addresses for every site I want to go to, all I have to do is remember the names of them. Much easier that way. :)
Now, to get a little more in depth. There are many many many servers our there that do DNS. Your company may have one or two, your ISP will have some, and at the core, there's the root DNS servers. When RF changed hosts, our IP address changed. The root DNS servers were updated very quickly. The problem is that ISP's and companies don't always get their updates as fast. Generally, most updates take place within 24 hours. Sometimes though, it can take a little longer. In rare instances, it doesn't update.
Not entirely sure what exactly happened though. Seems like some people can't even get to their DNS servers.
Regardless though, that's a pretty high level overview of DNS. :)

Skot,
Its all clicks and whistles to most people man.
Dns is like a phone book for the interent. When you want some ones phone number you look up their name and you see a 10 digit number.
When your computer wants to know how to get to yahoo.com it connects to the DNS server of your ISP and and asks for the Ip address of the yahoo.com and the DNS server will either give it to you computer or tell you where you can find it.
