Icon14 Summit Racing: Updated with a happy ending

I purchased Eagle Alloy 185 series wheels from Summit November 10th. I already knew the wheels were back ordered and the date they gave me was 11/22 for them to arrive at Summit

The 22nd arrived and I called to confirm that my wheels had arrived, the customer service rep could not find my wheels and said that he would email me when they came in.

11/23 (Thanksgiving). I get an update on my order and it says the back order date is now 12/6. This is extremely frustrating since the entire lift plus tires are waiting to be installed.

I sent an email to Summit complaining about the misleading date but I figured that it was something to do with Eagle (or so I thought)

I stopped by the local tire shop to get metal valve stems and I just thought I could have them call Eagle to see what the deal was. They called and they can get the wheels in 2-3 days. wtf.

I called Summit back and told them what the shop told me, they seemed flustered and I asked them to call Eagle and confirm this, they told me they couldn't since Eagle was closed. I told them the tire shop just got off the phone with them. She didn't know what to do so she told me someone would call me back on Monday and give me a straight answer.

I don't care what they have to say, I'm canceling my order and getting them from the tire shop (even though it will be $100 more). I'm never shopping at Summit again

/end rant

I've always had good experiences with them.

It's their poor customer service that pissed me off

I've had good experiences with Summits customer service. When they sent me the wrong shocks, they overnighted a new set to me no questions asked and threw in some free stuff as well.
Now Doetsch on the other hand..... They have shitty customer service.

Or even better - see if the tire place can match the price!

Normally I would do this, but since I live in an apartment I have to have the wheels shipped to my parents, 2 hours away. The next time I'm visiting is Dec 8th. Unless the overnight the wheels I won't get them. Which means I would have to spend more gas money going and getting them later

I actually hoped they would upgrade my shipping for free since I have to have them at my parents by Dec 8th, but they didn't seem to care.

Actually the tire shop is taking the price off mounting, balancing, and valve stems off the price, so it won't be much more than Summit

X2. I've been shopping with them for longer than I care to admit, and I have yet to ever have a bad experience, including backordered items.

Holy crap Summit came through.

Apparently this incident of mine has been documented because the guy I just talked to knew what I've already gone through.

So, first I filled him in on what had already happened and what I knew. I told him that the tire shop can get them in 2-3 days, but Summit can't until Dec. 6th. He agreed that didn't make any sense.

I then tell him unless I get a straight answer now I'm canceling my order, that got his attention because he told me he isn't supposed to call manufacturers directly but he did it anyway.

He finds out the the Columbus, OH warehouse doesn't have any, so he was transferred to the Denver warehouse and they said they would ship them tomorrow.

So now I should have the wheels no later than Friday.

I'm very happy with Summit right now.

Side note: The guy I just spoke with told me the lady I talked to on Friday that wouldn't help me and wouldn't call Eagle since they were "closed" is being questioned by their supervisor for lying to a customer.

Update: I just found out last night they are refunding the cost of shipping.

As far as I'm concerned, they have redeemed themselves.

(I edited the title but it's not showing up, can a mod/admin fix it?)
