Just wanting to say that I am in the process of buying a K&N intake from Nick and he is giving me an awesome deal. I've known Nick for a good time now and has been an awesome guy to know. He is going out of his way to get me this product and I can't say enough how pleased I am with the way he runs his buisness. As long as he has the part I want I will buy from him anytime. I would definately goto him if you need something for you truck. He cuts prices down below most other online sites. I was looking at the other intake he carries and he was going to give me a great deal on it, but he just recently started carrying the k&n intake and it is only a little bit more and from what i've read on k&n's website you will make 10.3hp to the ground! now that in a 3.0 will be pretty noticeable and at a good cost. So I can't express enough that you should check in with Nick first before you buy from any other website.

You will NEVER get 10+ HP on a 3.0 from an intake alone. You'll need exhaust and MAF mods at the very least to get there. Once the resistance of the intake is eliminated, the other resistances dominate.

Take a good look at how much space there is, for instance, around the MAF sensor for air to flow. The space is TINY. Also, the TB doesn't quite open all the way and you can half shaft it as well to make it less resistive. Finally, a good exhaust will help.

The 10.3 number is NO DOUBT what you will get from putting the intake on IF you've done the other mods.

I would still get the intake, it sounds like a great deal -- but be advised so that:

A: you're not disappointed
B: you don't think the K&N sucks (it doesn't)
C: you don't get mad at Nick!

very true. You wont see 10.3 to the ground as K&N suggests on their website where they proudly post their "results." Either, the K&N was a great deal for the money which was well under the retail of 291.00 I will say that much. Either way, its an unbeatable deal.

Considering Dyno's are run with the hood up and a fan blowing at 60mph, I have no doubt that 10HP was achieved. Real world conditions where the hood is shut and hot air is going though the filter tends to negate it.

04sonicedge, you do anything to that F250. My brother has one- 4door long bed 4x4. He has ran a 14.01 in the 1/4 with bully dog programming, intake, and exhaust. He added propane injection but hasn't run it again.

Of course, I still have a 2004 F-350 crew cab long bed FX4 alos with MBRP exhaust, Hypertech PTM 3 stage and aFe intake. It runs 13.9's. When I had nitrous, propane, and upgraded intercooler it was running 12's with a rebuilt tranny.

The 2005 F-250 crew cab diesel is running a Bully Dog power pup with out look monitor, 4wd, and Banks Monster exhaust and new tranny update. It ran last at 13.8 in the 1/4-mile with NO traction.

I don't know. It's cheaper to get a 6.0 turbodiesel in the low 14's than it does to get a ranger truck. Get the bullydog and you are done.

Thanks for the warning john. I have delt with k&n before and been nothing but pleased with it. I do right now have exhaust. Its a SI/DO flow orig 40 ran out the back. I went from having lightning style exhaust and saw an improvement from that.

Now when I had my v6 stang before this I had gotten exhaust didn't notice and huge difference, but when I got the CAI it was like the engine had a whole new life to it. I know it wont be that dramatic of a change on my truck. However if I see atleast half of what I did on the stang I will be happy

Very true, Mike. Anything is an improvment. I have delt with K&N before and it was not a very happy relationship so thats why I went ahead and ordered myself the same intake Mike ordered from me as well. I want to see if maybe it was just the truck the intake was on before. I have the CGS intake right now and am pleased with it but for the money I may as well try the K&N. I'll find out next week how it is.
