1996 Splash progress

I don't post many picks, but now that my truck is actually getting to where I want it to be I decided to put some up.

So here is what my truck looked like in October of 2002 when I sold it.

a002_25a.jpg?

This is what it looked like when I bought it back. You did read that right I intentionally purchased my former truck back in this condition.

002.jpg?

Here is what it looked like after the Rusty's long arm kit for the XJ and a D30 from an XJ was installed.

And now.

Here is a link to more photos in its current state.

Should have gotten wider tires.

Looks really good with the lift and wheels.

x2 on the front end looking better. Did they make a valance with fog lights that fit that year? I think that would make it look a lot better.

The 31's I had on the stock rims were actually rubbing against the long arm so I went with a 3.75 backspacing on the new wheels. So there is no more rubbing and my turning radius has been reduced slightly. But the tires already stick out over an inch past the fenders, so I didn't want the added width of 33x12.5's. Not to mention the weight. This truck is my only vehicle so I wanted it to be comfortable for daily driving.

All the front end damage was repaired at a "hispanically owned and operated" shop in the back of an industrial complex near the airport. There was even a pit bull. still not bad for $675. It didn't need to be perfect, just enough to not have the damage draw attention.

That year does have foglights, but the splashes didn't come with them. I may add them if I get a custom bumper.

I also need to swap out the chevy drop shackles with stock ones the rear is 4 inches higher than the front.

Splashes have color matched grilles.

Looks good! The person you sold it to certainly did not take very good care of it.

I think there was another owner after him. I found it on a shady used car lot just randomly looking on Autotrader.

The truck looks great! Definitely a big improvement over what it looked like with the last owner.

For the most part the spring buckets match up witht he perches from the XJ D30 front end. May include the TJ, but I don't know. The Rusty's long ar m kit just needs to e narrowed and welded on to fit the ranger frame. it is easierand cheaper than using raw material and custom fabricating.
