Home made bike rack. It'll do for now

Had some 2x4s laying around so after some cuts here and there, some sanding and a can of spray on bedliner I had this. Can get 3 bikes in there...I'm guessing...this is just temp until I start welding. I probably could have just used ratchet straps, but where is the fun in that??? Going to put some eye-bolts in between each wheel slot for for stability.

looks good! i just built one too but that is not how i made mine. holding 3 bikes as well.

ill have to get some pictures up. if you add some supports for the front tire that will help with stability.

Yea I was going to add some supports for the front wheel, but I got lazy...

This is will only probably last until winter anyways, then I should have some decent welding experience and I already have an idea in mind for that.

Pics of yours ASAP!

Mine is out of wood too, unpainted though. so it looks kinda hillbilly. but it keeps the bikes standing up and from getting all tangled.

That's why I wanted something like this. I could have used some fork mounts in the 2x4, but I hate taking the front wheel out, it takes me awhile to get the disc aligned perfectly so there is no rubbing.

I LOVE the bike. I have an '08 Hardrock Sport, mostly because I couldn't afford anything with full suspension. I used to ride every day in Wyoming, but now I'm back in Kansas,,, I haven't ridden for a while.

Yea I had planned on getting an HT, but my buddy works at a bike shop and gave me a good deal on this, as well as a little over $150 in free gear. Do they let you DH at Jackson Hole??? When I get more comfortable on bikes I want to get a DH bike and get out there.

Im 6'0 at 235 lbs.... I want to jump bigger stuff that I cant with my xc. I mean, Ive jumped off 4 ft drops with my xc, but Id much rather have the suspension. lol its addicting in the bike worl. I just upgraded to mechanical discs not too long ago and now I wanna trade this in and get a $2000.00 bike in the winter... Im a cross country/trail rider on the outside, but a freerider/north shore style rider on the inside! This is what I wanna be doing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDaqc...eature=related

gah stupid work filters, I'll have to check the link later.

Yea I havent hit any jumps really yet. Still don't have the best of balance mid-air. I am a water person, so this is a completely different thing for me. Any good DH places out your way? They took away some of the slopes from DH due to the thrashing of the slopes.

I'd love to try North Shore style riding one day. I was supposed to get a 08 Rockhopper Comp Disc this year but spent too much money on the truck instead lol

Those the fork mounts that clamp on the bed rails? I wanted something where I wouldn't have to take off the front wheel. I always have problems realigning the disc back in the caliper. But when I start welding I already have a design in mind that will work really well.

My friend and I almost bought the 08 Stumpjumper, but it was more expensive, so went with the XC Comp.
