2.3 performance parts
I've got a '90 ranger with a 2.3 5 speed. I'd like it to have a little more power. I'd like to have a turbo engine but am having trouble finding one. Are there aftermarket camshafts. I don't know how much valve lift a stock 2.3 will take. I've always had small block Fords so I don't know much about these engines. What about performance chips? I found a header in Summit Racing for $180. Does anyone know of any cheaper headers? Just trying to have a little fun with the truck.
Thanks

im not sure on the max lift on the motor. but i know that the ranger cams are a good cheap cam for a turbo set up. im looking for a turbo motor too but than i realized that the ranger blocks and svo mustang and turbo coupe blocks are the same. your best bet would be to tear down your motor and get a good set of forged low compression pistions (like 8-1) or get a set of used turbo coupe pistons, get some new rings, new gaskets and youll be fine. its harded to find complete turbo motors but its easy to find used parts off them. i would peice the motor together that way you can get aftermarket parts also. you can find headers on ebay also and possibly as "turboford.net". the stock turbo on the svos and turbo coupes are small so you might want to upgrade depending on the numbers your looking for. try that website and also "rangersrevenge.com" both have been extremely helpful for me. - Jay
