89 ford ranger 2.3L 4cyl Engine Help

I just finished rebuilding my upper engine. Everythig cleaned and some new parts & gaskets new all the way around. I put the battery back in , charged it then tried to start it. The crank turns one half turn then stops like its stuck then a spark comes from the upper coil pack. I can not figure out what went wrong. I've worked on ford engines and have never had this problem but now I do. I'm getting spark from both coil packs, wires are new, I used the same plugs because I just changed them last summer and their was very little ware on them. I made double sure the electrical connections were right, they only go one way, I did get a little confused as to what order to put all the vacume line in but the diagram is on the front of the truck so I figured that out. Any help would be great. I would love to have the truck running before winter. I'm stumped. When I filled the radiator with water, the nozzle to the water hose got stuck and sprayed water on the engine, also the upper coil pack got alittle wet but not much.
