#1 torsion bars?

I know this topic has been covered before. I did a search and couldnt find the answer I was looking for. Im aware of the different torsion bar rates. Im doing my lift on wed and plan to do a 1" crank of my bars. I currently have "F" bars and want to upgrade to either "B" bars or #1 bars.

Where is everyone buying them from? Can I just get them from ford?

Also with my current F bars setup how long do you think it will hold the 1" crank for before is sags? Everyone says they will sag soon but how long are we talking.. a week? a month?

Steve

well being that you truck is fairly new it should hold the crank for a while... I ordered my #1 bars from my local dealership, plus ur 2wd so there is less weight the bars you have should do fine.

I wouldn't waste the money on different bars If your just after a 1" crank.

What do you ask for when asking the dealer for #1 bars

Spring rates are computer selected on the assembly line based on all option content in a particular truck, so the parts guy can't just look up t-bars for a "XL" or and "Edge 4x4". They are not listed in the parts system by codes 1, B or F either.

The way the system works, the dealer has to look up a VIN to get the original build info and then sells you what the truck was built with. In other words, your VIN will get you the same bar rate that you already have. The only way to fool them is to use a VIN from a truck that was factory equipped with the bars that you want. Luckily for you, that has already been done by R-F members in the past.

These are the part numbers that they came up with:

1 code torsion bars:

F67Z-5B326-FB Drivers side bar
F67Z-5B326-FA Pass side bar

B code torsion bars:

F57Z-5B327-A Drivers side bar
F57Z-5B326-A Pass side bar

For what it's worth, #1's might be a little overkill on a 2wd 3.0.... But you may like a rough ride. IDK.

ya I think your right. If I do the swap I will probably end up going with the B bars.

The guys at my offroad swap are recommending strongly that I dont crank the bars. They say ill be fixing BJ's, tie rods and all that jazz by 40 000km. With a 1" torsion crank and with the 3" spindle and 33x12's do you guys think otherwise? I only have 18 000km on the rig so far

With only a 1" crank you won't be replacing them by that soon. I'll be cranking my b-bars tomorrow and get about 2 1/4" of lift and I still won't be replacing ball joints and etc. in that amount of time.
