Thanks Logan.

A quick few questions if u can answer them.
This will eliminate the torsion bars right, but this doesnt provide lift correct?
Is there welding involved?

Where does one get the coil springs???

Thanks.

Correct - you get about the same amount of adjustment as you would by cranking your bars. It's really a ride quality setup only.

Yes, the side gussets get welded onto the sides of the factory shock bucket. Everything else is 'bolt-on' or just requires minor drilling.

You can get the coilovers & springs wherever you want. Most get them from ORW or Downsouth Motorsports.

Bump to get this info on the current page.

Member Selling These: ME00Stepside
Send payment to: sbeau1 (at) metrocast (dot) net

Latest Pricing:
Kit with powdercoated brackets: $290
Kit with raw brackets: $270

Shipping:
$17 US
$46 Canada

Kit includes:
4 brackets (2 upper, 2 lower)
4 gussets to reinforce shock tower
2 shock tower spacers for upper mounts
8 rod end spacers (for 1/2" wide rod ends--like Fox)
All hardware to install--grade 8 zinc plated

What else you will need:
2 coilover shocks
2 coil springs

What you may need:
Bump stops if you are lifting your truck at the same time, but if you already have a Superlift, or if you are remaining at stock height, you can reuse what you have. You simply need to trim back the bracket on the frame where the bump stop mounts, so that the coilover will clear it. Ok last question

About the welding...
All i have in my garage is a small 110v wirefeed..which i doubt is sufficent enuff for this.
My work has more professional welding stuff.
How long would this conversion take to do? Like if i took my truck to work and did it there, how long would it take?
Or is the welded part something i can easily take off the truck and take and have it done without bringing the whole truck in?
Im guessing its on the a-arm of the IFS and that would be a pain to remove all that..

Im really wanting to get rid of my torsion bars...i may not get in on this order but probably the next..
.
thanks for all the help

No, you cant just take the part off the truck & have it welded without the truck present. You're welding to the frame - along the sides of the upper shock mount - for reinforcement.

You can have the gussets welded in before you perform the actual conversion if you want.

Random Google Image (Not my truck or my install):

As far as time - it will vary, but maybe 3 hours give or take - This same process was done when I installed my RCD coilover lift so it's harder for me to isolate the time it took just for these brackets.

It's nothing too crazy.

With proper tools and a good air system for pneumatic tools, this conversion should take 2-3 hours. For a driveway mechanic without air, it may take you 4-5, depending on the condition of your current suspension and your skills.

One thing I will say, is you MUST have good strong, sharp drill bits for this for the 3/8" holes you're going to drill. Cheap or dull bits are not going to cut it--literally.

And Logan is right. You can do the gussets before or after you do the install. It doesn't have to be done while you've got everything torn down. I know a few guys on here have mentioned doing the swap, then taking their truck to a body shop to get the gussets welded on.

Also, don't forget the POR15 on them and the ground down area of the frame afteraward (also where you cut the bump stop mount back!).

If I add myself to the list, should I pay right away?

I just kinda happened on this from Explorerforum. I can see my v8 would need 800lb springs, but those could be bought any time. I'd like to go stainless hardware also, if possible. I think that would stand up to our winter salt better.

Im not going to be needing my set if any canadian members that are not on the list and interested email me at tylermackenzie0731@gmail.com if your on the list i dont feel it would be right to take buisness away. These are the raw set that i sandblasted on painted black to keep the rust off. The braces are still raw.
Got an awd 2.0 ecoboost fusion, and a one ton with picker to use so no need for a pickup.

Superlifted Truck (Confirmed via PM this setup works 100%):

Stock Height Truck (Need to confirm, but this is the obvious setup based on the above working - and knowing that people have installed Fox CO's on stock setup's before):

Of course, part #'s will vary depending on the desired spring rates. Also the Fox part #'s will vary depending on the body finish (cadmium versus upgraded chrome), as well as body color (blue versus black - but I don't think you can get the blue anymore). Tons of info on Fox shocks (Extended/Collapsed Info as well): http://www.off-roadproducts.com/FOX08Coilover.htm

This "list" pertains only to the actual springs & CO's...you will need many other parts to perform the conversion (most are listed and/or discussed here or in the other threads). I have no doubt that once "ME00Stepside" has the details worked out on his "package" he will have full details of what's included and all that good stuff!

I’ve done tons of research on this conversion (mostly using Fox brand CO's), as well as helped people get measurements off the original brackets and components I purchased new last year to assist in the “re-production” efforts (Again here is a good research thread for those that haven't clicked it yet: https://www.ranger-forums.com/showth...adness+madness). I purchased everything above for my stock height truck…but I haven’t been able to toss everything under the truck yet…but if I wasn’t confident about my research & information I have gotten from my dealers I wouldn’t have “risked” almost $1,500.

Also, when I purchased my Fox coilovers, they were custom valved by the dealer to match the usage. A benefit of Fox CO’s – and good dealers do this for free & won’t sell them without it being done....I think that's VERY important as it can change everything about how the shock "rides". He asked me many questions about the usage in order to dial it in correctly (type of truck, on-road versus off-road usage, high-speed or low-speed. etc.).

Also, I've never added the limit straps and/or bump stops to this list since they will vary depending on where & how you mount everything.[/QUOTE]

i know this goes way back but I've been doing some reading i was wondering king springs seem to be a lot less expensive has anyone ever use king springs on a fox shock? does that work i can't find any info anywhere saying if that would or wouldn't work.. Also when ordering the eyelets what length do i buy it shows more than a couple sizes and do i order it with the bearing kit?

You can use any brand coilover spring you want.

As long as it's a 2.5" I.D. spring in the desired spring length & rate - it won't matter.

You want part #213-01-238-A not 213-01-138-A. I've said a few times that the typo of mine from years back is still haunting me to this day! lol

That 213-01-238-A will be 4.488" in length & 3.75" to the center of the eye as is for the .625 shaft.

As far as the need for the bearing & snap ring kit goes - depends if you will be reusing the ones that come stock on your Fox coilovers or not.

When I ordered my stuff from Downsouth Motorsports, they actually installed the extended eyelets on the coilovers for me as part of the overall sale. I believe other guys have mentioned the same thing. Saved a little work on this end.

Note: I'm cutting off the list here for this round.
The stock is all in and being cut. I'm expecting it to go to the welder within the next couple of weeks. My machinist is out of commission for a few days having minor surgery, otherwise they would be all cut this weekend, but I will keep you all updated. Once these are all gone, if the interest is there, I can start another round.

Ask if they can install a set of bump stops on the shafts as well, they will save you a lot of hassle in the long run.

cool! and no you don't need the plate/flange thing they sell, the rod end has plenty of support for the bump.

How do we pay for the kits???
