"Factory" Ford 3" suspension lift for 4x4's? Anyone know of this?

"Factory" Ford 3" suspension lift for 4x4's? Anyone know of this?

A guy at work with a Ranger (and I can't get him on the board, lol -- tried) says he is getting a Ford "factory" 3" lift for his 2001 4x4 XLT. I've never heard of this lift.

Allegedly, it is a suspension lift, and costs $800. He says he's getting it installed for $1000.

Does this add up? I just haven't heard of this lift.

i would imagine that his dealer just does lifts for customers and does not void their warranty.

alot of dealers down here do that.

but i dunno what 3" lift for a 2001 4x4 exists.

i thought i read a while back that superlift and ford were going to be doing some stuff together, maybe ford gets killer deals on the superlift suspensions and the dealer installs them ? but seems like that was a while ago

maybe they install supercharges tooo(and warrentys it i hope)

wait the ford tech doing my Gauge lights pior to me buying the truck coudn't handle that... (i dont want them doing that now)

I'll talk to him. I didn't say anything to him, but I'd never heard of that.

If it is a suspension lift, the $1800 price tag INSTALLED sound pretty good for an IFS lift.

sounds like the superlift kit to me.

Yes to help correct the over-angulation (is that a word?) of the front driveshaft after the lift, you're supposed to get a driveshaft with a dual-cardan joint. The 'factory' lift sounds fishy to me. I'm skeptical anyways.

And Josh W, some dealers DO install whipple superchargers on the 3.0L engine and will warranty it with the vehicle also. As far as I know, however, the only dealers who do that are in Florida.

yes and the reason for that is like kyle mentioned above.

ive seen people get the superlift kit for under 1000k and if ford didnt install the driveshaft i could see them for 1800 installing the superlift kit.

if it is the superlift kit, the one cool thing i see about this is it is an addon option from the dealer so they can include the lift in with the price of the truck. now that would be sweet. and extra 2k over 60 months is only 20-30 more a month usually, that would make it easier for some people.

I didn't get the guy before he left today, but I'm going to tell him to be wary. The fact that Bob posted that single word -- "misinformed" -- says it all, lol. George is about 10 years my senior and as nice and old guy as you'd ever want to meet, and sadly I can see someone trying to take advantage of him.

the salesman is probably selling him a body lift and saying it's suspension.

Could be. I finally got ahold of him and passed along information from this topic. He's going to go back now better informed and ask the right questions. If they are selling him a bill of goods, then he'll be looking into a SuperLift or something similar.

He told me to tell you guys "thanks" for the information.

well i'll keep that info to myself... cause my roomate has a 3.0... shhh he can't be faster then me.

If I had $1 for every customer I've had to turn away with some junk DVD player that was installed at the dealership before they bought the car, because its not a ford piece, and it wasn't at this dealership, I'd be a rich man. I had one lady who just DIDN'T get it.. she kept saying "BUT FORD PUT IT IN!!" I kept telling her, "No, XYZ Ford 3 hours from here put it in, not the Ford Motor Company." She could NOT grasp the difference.

Don't worry, even a whippled 3.0 doesnt have much on a 4.0. Do a bit of a search because I can't remember all the details, but in the end they pretty much break even between the two.

You should have come to our meet......Nick had his dyno sheet and he is pulling over 200 hp with his whipple and a few enhancements.
