should i crank the torsion bars or not?

I want to run 32's and i have been told that I should crank the torsion bars to get more clearance. I have read on other sites that you shoudn't crank them because parts ware out faster and it gives the truck an uncomfortable ride. The only kind of driving that I will be doing is 12 miles a day on paved road with some occasional snow wheelin. So I need to know if my truck would be greatly affected if crank the torsion bars.

Thanks,
Sam

I cranked mine just enough to level out the truck and have had zero negative effects. Just make sure you get your alinment adjusted if you do decide to crank them.

if you crank the t-bars, parts will wear out faster not by much tho, and you should take it somewhere to get it aligned after you do it or atleast see if it needs an alignment, and it does make it a little rougher up front, almost everyone on this site has cranked there t bars some, mine is maxed tho

how much clearance do you get with the torsion bars all the way cranked?

i got about 3or 4 more inches from it i think ,but now the back of my truck sits down lower now,and maxin them out does cause more wear and tear vs just leveling them out

do you think if i cranked them 2 inches then there wouldn't be a difference in ride quality?

not alot, but the fx4 level II models like mine, come with 31's so 32's should fit no problem... i would crank them just enough to make the truck sit level then get an alignment

I have looked it up. It says that I can fit 32's, but it differs from truck to truck

Like it's been said it varies from truck to truck. I fit 33x12.50's with slight rubbing on F bars. Best thing is find someone close that has larger tires and do some test fitting.

Your front suspension probably only has three inches of downtravel before the shocks top out as it is. Crank them two inches and you reach the end of your travel driving over a speed bump or manhole cover and the ride sucks. I wouldnt raise the front more than an inch.
Besides even with cranked bars the front WILL still bottom out off road and he suspension will compress to the same spot it did before.

so are you saying that you loose travel if you crank the torsion bars?

No, the suspension still keeps the same range of travel. By adjusting them for more height, you are just changing the ride height within that range. You will lose DOWN travel or droop from ride height.

I experienced this when I had cranked torsion bars. In short, torsion bars suck.

If you level it out you could actually run 33x11.50's. You would have to probably ditch your mud flaps. If you don't want to do that then just run 32x11.50's.

If it were me, I would crank them an inch and a quarter. Why an inch and a quarter? Because after a little bit of miles they'll settle. Not sag, settle. Then you'll be left with about an 1" or so of lift left which will allow you to look good and clear the 32's no problem.
