gabriel, monroe, edelbrock, rancho, bilstein, kyb?
I have been running 20's for 50k miles. I am ok with the ride. Problem is, I am about to move to 22's or 23's. My tire will obviously be much smaller. Which shock will do the best at smoothing my ride back out. I don't necessarily want an unresponsive floating ride, but performance is not really my concern. I just want something to reduce my jar on potholes and mainly, soak up those little bumps that seem to be continuous for miles on many roads. I have looked at all the major brands. What is going to give me the smoothest ride considering I am going to be running a 35 or 30 series tire. Thanks for the reccomendations.
I am seriosuly looking at the Edlebrock IAS performers and the Monroe sensatracks. I continuosly find good reviews on these. The Edelbrocks lean towards performance? Is this an accurate observation? I am mostly worried about being as smoooth as possible.

Well, I was leaning towards the monroes but then some guy posted this on another forum. I know that this doesn't make up my mind for me, but I kind of bothers me...haha
Do not get the Monroe Sensa tracs!!! I just replaced my third set under warranty in 10,000 miles. The sensa tracs start out ok but quickly become VERY harsh, especially in the rear, to the point of the truck bouncing sideways on some road joints and tar strips. I am running factory rims with 235/75r15 tires and it got so bad there were a few times I thought I was going to lose control on wet roads. Monroe acknowledges an issue with these shocks and does not recommend them for the Rangers that do not daily carry heavy loads. If this set does the same thing, witch I think they will, I will switch to bilstiens.

Is your truck lowered or lifted? I have had monroe, hated them. Rancho? Made by monroe, just a different color and name. Gabriel? Please dont. Edlebrock? Paying for the name. Go with KYB's or Bilstiens. Like Mark said, any monotube shock is perfect for your application.

Why monotube? Can anyone explain this technically in terms of dampening rates, ect? My tires and rims will be heavier.... sprung weight. My tires will absorb less. To me, you would think you would want a "softer" shock to cushion better, but since their is more sprung weight, you would want the shock to be stiffer to keep the tire on the ground. Those don't add up. At the same time, the weight will make it harder to allow the shock to absorb the bump becuase all that weight has to move up quickly.
Do I want stiffer shocks?
Softer may be too soft?
I do have a couple hundred pounds of speakers and mdf in my bed.
I hate to make a $150-300 mistake.
