First time cranking the T bars

I know this has been covered here a lot and I'm ready to jump in and try it but have a question first. Is there any way before I start to tell if they have already been cranked by someone else? My 04 FX4 has 120,000 miles and had 265 75 16s on when I got it...the front sits a little low but I figure with that kind of millage it could have been done before and settled. I only want to go 1.5" but if its been done before could I be going into dangerous situation by going farther?

you'll know if you can crank more by looking at the bolt and... seeing if... it can tighten anymore lol
