Pinion angle.
I'm going to take another inch or so on the backend of my truck making the rake of 30inches in front to 31 inches in back. Presently it sits at 30/32.
My concern is of pinion/shaft angle. I was going to just grinf odd the mouonts for the leaf springs and put them 1 inch higher up on the frame rails ( both front and back )..
Any of you lowered peeps have any input to offer?

Or, to put it a better way -- although the angle changes, the DIFFERENCE in angle between the transmission (or transfercase) and the pinion will be zero. they will not change in relation to each other, and therefore there is no cause for any alarm at all.

All I can say is there was a change. I spray painted the frame rails, ground off the old rivits. I welded a 1.5inch 90degree piece of angle ontop of the frame rails. It fit below the bed perfectly.
I moved the leaf carriers/holders up exactly 1 inch..
I have vibration now after 45mph and the truck is having shims done and the driveshaft balance checked. It wasn't ' severe ' , didn't make any thumps, but it changed almost 3 degrees.
*IF* I had stock size wheels/tires, I might have been able to get away with this, but with my smaller tires, present leafs and now relocating.. one thing added to another and press-tola, vibration.
Tomorrow I'm moving the shock locations up some so I don't start overcompressing shocks as well.
I'm starting to get good with this mig welder since helping with Joe's springs. Its amazing what you can learn when someone shows you the basics and having prior knowledge of what fouls

Anyone still sell rattle-cans of sonic blue paint?

Found out it wasn't just shimming. One of the parts of my Eaton Diff was hurting and I had a chipped tooth on my gear-ring as well. For the beating its taken, I'm not going to complain.
It rides MUCH nicer now then it did before ( I think new shocks helped some ) . I need 2degree shims and changed to a set of those beefy U-bolts as the axle was off anyway.
My whole axle needed a rebuild from drifting and just beating the **** out of it to begin with. I should rebuild it every 2 sets of tires, I've gone through 8 tires ( 4 sets ) since building it.
