thread in coil spacer questions:

hey yall.
bought myself some el cheapo advance coil spacers to just pick up the front end a bit. they are 1 inchers so im not expecting that much difficulty, but after searching here for a bit I have questions:

1. being thats its a 1 inch spacer will stud extenders be necessary?
2. Its the type of coil you can "thread" in the coil or place below it. which is better? if I "thread" it in then this question invalidates the first.
3. If im going to thread them in, how do I drop the lower control arm to the point where I can. Ive seen and read how to remove the coil but I have no compressor to get it back in.

heres how i understand it.

jack up truck till both tires dangle (remove tire from installation side)
support A-arm with second jack.
undo sway bars links + shock respectively
pop out upper ball joint from spindle
push down on A-arm
- - - question at this point is: will the coil be bent at such an angle from the A-arm being so far down that it will "fling" out? - - -
lubricate and thread in spacer and reverse previous processes?
correct or off target here? not wanting to buy a compressor but living is high on my list of "to-do's"

That sounds right, that's how easy it is to remove the spring on my truck. I didn't need compressors. but putting them back in it would have helped slightly.

But given the age difference I wouldn't say for sure.
