I think I broke something expensive...
Well the other day I was going fast down a kind of rocky trail in my stock height 1998 Ranger (stupid I know), and went into a little whoop with a big rock on the other side and smashed the engine cross member HARD.
So I look at it when I get back home and notice that the right side where the cross member connects to the lower arm is bent back a bit and it also smashed the lower arm back some too. The truck seems to be fine otherwise except that now it pulls to the right some. Otherwise no weird noises or anything.
Now I'll try to post pics tomorrow because I know I'm terrible at explaining things but can you guys maybe give me an estimate of how much something like this would cost to fix and how difficult it would be? It doesn't look like something that can be just bent back into place.... and unfortunately i don't have hardly any money

Holy ****, damn you hit a rock REALLY REALLY REALLY hard. I guess you're going to have to try and find a new one of those or you could try to get it back into place by taking it off and getting a torch and heating it up and hitting it really hard. I doubt that will work but you could try it.

You aren't going to be able to just take that off and put a new one on. That thing is welded in place and its gonna be a PITA to fix. If I were you I'd take it to a body shop with a frame rack and see what they say. If anything you can have them weld a new one on, unless you're a pretty good welder.

Damn I was afraid that this was bad... unfortunately I'll have to wait until a couple of paychecks before anything gets done...
The thing I'm worried about right now is the end of the torsion bar popping out further because as you can see in the picture its sticking out some. Do you guys think this could happen? I'm not taking it on anything but pavement and I'm babying it on that but still....

HAHA Holy Cow! Ive Gotten 3 Feet of air on street and dug a 3 inch holy into asphalt when landing on my front most crossmember. and all i did was scratch the mud off......What the heck did you hit? GRANITE?
Dont lie..... If he had a Skid Plate he either would have gone faster thinking hes safe and Totally ripped the front end out from under himself. or it would have kept the mudd off his front end.....<Weak i know..... But thats pretty much all it would have done lol ITS STEAL AND HE SMASHED IT. to get a decent idea od how hard he had to hit. go outside with a Huge friggin mallet and Slam YOUR frame.....Youll hurt your hand befor the truck

Did almost the same the same thing to my truck but about 3-4 inches more towards the drivers side. Cost 400 to have pulled and its still messed up, thats one of those things once wrecked will never bee the same. Best bet try to either get a new one welded in or if your a serious wheeler do an SAS. My only worry now with the damage is transfer of ownership, i'm pretty sure that it will greatly reduce your vehicles value.

He said it pulls to the passenger side now..."no kidding?!" lol
I wonder if insurance would cover anything like that? I don't condone fraud, but I don't know if you would actually tell them what you were doing when you hit "something".
That's only going to lead to more problems. Weird tire wear, possible braking issues... I dunno could be nothing else but who know what could result from that.
