Leafspring eyebolts !!Help!!

Hey i am tring to install aals and chevy shackles, but i cannot get the eyebolts out of the leafs. I got the spring plate off and the shackle detached from the frame, as well as all the nuts. But i cannot get the bolts to slide out of the leaf spring. They are currently wallowing in WD-40. What is the trick?

if the nuts are already off and the weight is off the springs use a big hammer. If that doesn't work go get some new ones and cut those suckers off.

LOL you're funny. but seriously i beat the crap out of those things with my BFH. they go as far as i can beat the bolt but soon the bolt comes out far enough that there is no more bolt to beat. thats how far i got. It kind of feels like it's catching on the rubber bushings. I think i'll have a mechanic do it. Let him worry about it

are you serious? use a screw driver or a tap. kinda like a rail road spike driving it through. and at that if it has a hex head (Like normal bolts, and its not just a metal tube by now) and its "Caught on the rubber" the threads are what would be caught. so just SCREW it out. if neither of those ideas work, try something else. dont give up so easy unless your no Auto work savvy. it doesnt take a pro to remove a bolt. just keep workin at it. youll get it. AND save money.

If you use the hammer and chisle typ method make sure you secure it with a c clamp or vise or smoething. so it doesnt have play, and it doesnt swing.

its rusted to the bushing this happens alot in the salt belt. basically heat it up and let it melt out. then get replacement bushings.

you may have to cut the stock shackle up some

I don't think the bushing are much but I think they have to be pressed out.

burn them out then use a chisel to knock the outer ring out.

Does it still move within the eye well? So its more/less fused to the bushing?

Yea the bolt is " at one with its eviroment" aka the bushing. Rusted in there good and tight. Had a brainy idea today. If i just use a gear puller to drive the bolt out using sheer pressure. But to day i had new tires put on (Cooper STT 285/75R16) and when they pulled the wheel off the truck the brake fell apart. so i got to what until tomorrow to get my truck back i miss it already

Are f150/bronco bushings the same as ranger?

I'm looking to get leaf spring bushings also

those bushings you mentioned

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-...spagenameZWDVW

say for 82-96 f150 but only for 83-85 ranger, would they work on other year ranger, like my 95?

I found the best deal here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...mZ130159348323

only $19 (+12 ship) I'd get those if I knew they'd work.
