Airing down in the sand

Airing down in the sand
Ok, I know a million airdown topics.. I was running my front tires at 15 psi and the rear at 10 psi this weekend at the beach. Could I go lower safely do you think? The tires are 285-75-16 BFG AT's. The problem is they are D rating so they do NOT give much when aired down to the above PSI due to thickness. Thanks

if they are mounted on the stock rims, then the tire should be wide enough to not worry about popping a bead at 10 psi. you have to be careful on the road though, driving for more than a few miles will overheat the tires, and taking a turn could pop the bead. run it at 10 psi all around, no lower, but fill it back up before you hit the streets

Yes, but I think I'll start with 15 and see how performance is. I really don't want to be poppin' off no beads!
I'm thinking I'll get down to 10 no problem -- but I really don't think any lower since I can only "crawl" so much with the 4x2. Since even with the locker I need momentum for somethings -- and momentum and too aired down do not mix. Too easy to slide into/against something and push the tire in before you can do anything about it.

I aired down to about 15-20lb the first time I went out onto the beach in Corolla on the Outer Banks. When I went again last year, I didn't even bother, leaving them all at about 35 or so. I didn't notice a difference in handling.
What I did notice was when my F$&*ing electronic transfer case decided not to shift out of low range.
