Icon5 help me out, will this work?

OK so i have a set of 16x8 Eagle Alloy series 1372 and they look like **** from the winter and salt... I can polish them up ( will take a very long time ) but i was thinking once they are polished up would i be able to shoot them with clear coat to keep them from getting axodized again??

Just an idea dont bash me for it

yes you can, i had the wheels on my super-duty powder coated clear after i polished them because the salt would destroy them
