American Racing Mojave Question
I recently bought the Teflon coated Mojaves (15 x 8) for my 2004 Ford Ranger 4x4. The wheels fit the truck fine, but after having gotten the BFG All Terrains (31 x 10.5) mounted and balanced the truck vibrates a good deal over 65mph. I asked the tire center what this was and they mentioned that I should have the centering rings. Now, it is my understanding that you do not necessarily need these rings as you can center the wheels with the lug nuts (lugcentric), provided you torque the wheels while they are off the ground. I have done this and the vibration seems to have gone away a little bit but is still there Could it be that the wheels werent balanced properly in the first place? Or do I actually need those rings for this application. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone has Mojaves please feel free to chime in.
Chris

I've noticed that as well, but I have steel wheels and cheap tires... I have a little around 60 but at 65+ it starts to get a little rough...
I figured it was some "hi-speed" balancing issue, becuase the tires change shape when your start moving faster and it can throw the balance off enough to make a vibration.

i have the mojaves and ya they vibrate at around 80mph or so. this is something that is going to happen with after market wheels. or at least wheels that dont use a dynamic balance with weights on both sides of the wheels. i did a static balance on my wheels the first time i balanced them and then did a dynamic balance the second time. i used clip weights on the inside lip and tape weight on the barrel. this helped a little bit. i also torque my wheels in the air like you did.

I was shocked! They're quieter than the ol MTR's. I think the balancing on my rims/tires is perfect. I was kinda sketchy after reading a post about how those beads made the balance worse than no weight at all. I cleaned the inside of the tire and rim(even though they were both new), made sure no tire beading crap was put on the tire, placed the beads in the tire without the 'ez open bag', and were filled with nitrogen then balanced.
